(NS:) added 2.82% or 6.90 points to end at 251.45 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) was up 2.44% or 2.45 points to 102.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:), which lost 1.08% or 5.60 points to trade at 512.45 in late trade. NTPC Ltd (NS:) declined 0.90% or 0.95 points to end at 104.90 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:) shed 0.85% or 43.85 points to 5113.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.69% to 103.10, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.66% to settle at 2413.50 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.35% to close at 516.10.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.00% to 512.70 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.94% to settle at 917.95 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.90% to 104.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1013 to 650 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1774 rose and 1129 declined, while 162 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.65% or 12.00 to $1867.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.44% or 0.21 to hit $47.83 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.22 to trade at $50.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 73.556, while EUR/INR rose 0.44% to 89.7680.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 90.097.
