© Reuters. India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.56% – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.56%, while the index added 0.48%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which rose 7.53% or 15.20 points to trade at 217.00 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) added 6.01% or 36.50 points to end at 644.05 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) was up 5.35% or 7.70 points to 151.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:), which lost 2.21% or 65.40 points to trade at 2893.00 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.43% or 28.30 points to end at 1951.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) shed 1.42% or 42.60 points to 2953.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 6.10% to 645.00, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.30% to settle at 438.85 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.97% to close at 2128.60.

The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.62% to 2881.35 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.48% to settle at 514.55 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.41% to 1950.40 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1116 to 490 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1537 rose and 980 declined, while 135 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.19% to 21.1050.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 4.45 to $1974.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.30% or 0.13 to hit $42.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.11 to trade at $45.69 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.17% to 73.126, while EUR/INR fell 0.27% to 86.7120.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 92.625.
