Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Cogeco Communications Inc (TSX:), which rose 15.02% or 14.92 points to trade at 114.27 at the close. Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc (TSX:) added 7.48% or 3.20 points to end at 46.00 and Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:) was up 6.08% or 1.98 points to 34.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:), which lost 8.31% or 1.84 points to trade at 20.31 in late trade. Enerplus Corporation (TSX:) declined 7.04% or 0.25 points to end at 3.30 and ARC Resources Ltd . (TSX:) shed 6.19% or 0.41 points to 6.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 534 to 530 and 125 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.49% or 29.50 to $1949.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.71% or 1.16 to hit $41.60 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.59% or 1.18 to trade at $44.40 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.16% to 0.7665, while CAD/EUR rose 0.67% to 0.6466.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 92.648.
